Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Barbara, against a
black background, loses control of her juggling balls. Beside her
are the words "West of Bathurst" in rainbow colours. "By Kari Maaren"
appears on one of the balls.
Panel 2: In
Barbara's small apartment, which is distinguished by a disintegrating
couch and a decorative broom hanging on the wall, Marie watches Barbara
juggle.
Marie: You're doing pretty well at that now.
Barbara: Only because I practise constantly.
Panel 3:
Barbara:
When I was younger, I watched my classmates learn to juggle in minutes.
I couldn't manage two balls, let alone three. There was much ridicule.
Panel 4:
Barbara: It's taken me over a month to get to the point where I can juggle for more than six seconds at a time. This depresses me.
Panel 5:
Barbara: Simultaneously, I am pleased that I have finally put to rest one of the bugbears of my childhood.
Panel 6: Barbara shakes the juggling balls vigorously.
Barbara: Take that, Nancy Morrison, you stuck-up, pariah-creating swine! Look who's demonstrating physical dexterity NOW!
Panel 7:
Marie: You seem to have issues.
Barbara [juggles calmly]: Nah, I'm good.
Alt-Text: What issues? There are no issues. THERE ARE NO ISSUES AT ALL.
