Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, a tiny Casey stands
on a pool table behind the eight ball as, nearby, a cue prepares to
strike the cue ball. The cue ball is labelled "WEST OF BATHURST by KARI
MAAREN." Panel 2: Marie and Rahim are playing pool in the Davies College basement. Rahim: I never see you at breakfast any more. Marie: Casey's always at breakfast. Panel 3: Rahim: He's always at lunch and dinner too. Marie: That's different. Panel 4: Marie: At lunch and dinner, there's plenty of conversation. He blends into the crowd. Panel 5: Marie: At breakfast, the room is full of sleep-deprived, brain-dead zombies. Then Casey comes along and goes: Panel 6: Marie spreads her arms and smiles in an exaggerated manner. The extreme joy she is projecting emanates from her in a blinding yellow flash. Panel 7: Rahim: Surely you're exaggerating a tad. Marie [shields her face with an arm]: And we all fling our arms up over our faces, cringing away from the unbearable cheerfulness. Alt-Text: Needless to say, morning people do exist. My personal theory is that they should all be put out of their misery as soon as humanly possible. Go to commentary |
