Panel 1: Rahim and Barbara stand outside Marie's room in Davies College. Barbara is carrying a thick spiral-bound document.
Rahim: Marie? Come on...you've been cooped up in there for ages.
Panel 2:
Marie [from inside the room]: I'm working.
Rahim: You're not working.
Marie: You can't know that.
Rahim: Do we have to break down the door?
Panel 3:
Barbara: If you come out, I'll give you hope by showing you a complete draft of my thesis.
Panel 4: Marie immediately comes out of the room. Barbara holds the thesis out towards her.
Marie: May...may I touch it?
Barbara [to Rahim]: Grad students: you just have to know how to talk to them.
Alt-Text:
Try showing a lower-year grad student a completed thesis at some point.
There will be a lot of "ooh"ing and "ah"ing and perhaps some
genuflection. Upper-year grad students will just cry.
