|Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Casey and Marie
stand back to back, eyeing each other sidelong. Casey is standing
against a black background labelled "West of Bathurst"; Marie is
standing against a white background labelled "by Kari Maaren."|
Panel 2: Marie is at a bus stop. Casey approaches, clearly meaning to wait for the same bus.
Marie [thinks]: Oh God.
Panel 3: They stand there.
Marie [thinks]: Don't engage me in conversation! Please, please don't do that.
Marie [thinks]: You're going to apologise again, and I'm going to lose it, and it will be awkward, and I'll want to run away.
Panel 5: Casey reaches into his pocket.
Marie [thinks]: Here it comes. Wait for it...waaait for it...
Marie [screams very loudly]: I TOLD YOU I NEEDED TIME!
Panel 7: Casey's eyes are extremely wide. Marie face-palms.
Marie [thinks]: Clearly, my smoothness knows no bounds.
