Panel 1: Barbara is at her Ph.D. thesis defence. The members of her committee are ranged before her, off panel.

Panelist 1: You need more postcolonial theory in Chapter Two.

Barbara: Why?

Panel 2:

Panelist 1: Are you serious? Milton's Satan clearly represents the "Other."

Barbara: I was trying to avoid jargon.

Barbara:
You know...the type that makes your three books and seventeen articles completely incomprehensible.

Alt-Text: My external kept asking why I hadn't used this theorist or that theorist in my thesis. I was more polite than Barbara, but damn, it was frustrating. MAYBE I DON'T LIKE BLOODY POSTCOLONIAL THEORY, OKAY? Geez.
