Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Jackie, dressed in a
tank top and shorts, lounges on a lawn chair under a sun umbrella as a
drink sits beside her on a table. She sighs. In the blue sky, wispy
clouds spell out the words "West of Bathurst by Kari Maaren."
Panel 2: Marie is sitting on her bed, talking to Jackie on her laptop.
Jackie [on the computer]: Is it snowing in Toronto?
Marie: No...it's actually been pretty mild here lately.
Panel 3: Jackie also has her laptop out.
Jackie: But it will snow again, right?
Marie [on the computer]: I guess.
Panel 4: Marie, on her bed, is getting puzzled.
Jackie [on the computer]: And you'll send me pictures? Pictures of the snow?
Marie: Uh...
Panel 5:
Marie: Jackie, you hate snow. You always used to complain about it when you were here.
Panel 6: Back to Jackie.
Marie [on the computer]: And now you're in California. I thought you liked it.
Jackie: Sure...but...well...
Panel 7: Back to Marie.
Marie: You've got weather-related Stockholm syndrome, haven't you?
Jackie [on the computer]: Could you mail me an icicle? For old times' sake?
Alt-Text:
Weather-related Stockholm syndrome is actually quite rare and tends not
to affect anyone who has ever spent the winter in Toronto.
