West of Bathurst 644

I apologise for being so late with the "Saturday" comics lately. It takes an awfully long time to put a colour comic together, and my Fridays have lately been kind of busy, for some reason.

People who have finally found this site after spending some frustrating time watching the old site not update or change at all should note that though I would love to have been able to leave you a note explaining that the site had moved, I still can't access the FTP. There is someone who is working on the problem, but it isn't solved yet. Sorry, once again, for the inconvenience. At any rate...the site is here now. Please update your bookmarks.

Panel 1: In the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Wendy, dressed as the Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is partying hard (with streamers, confetti, and a martini). She looks through a looking glass at Marie, dressed as Alice and reading a book on a couch. A streamer reading "West of Bathurst by Kari Maaren" floats through the looking glass.

Panel 2: On the night of the Davies College Winter Ball, Rahim, Marie, and Barbara are in the basement, gathered around the pool table. Wendy, looking incredulous, approaches them.

Wendy: What are you doing?

Marie: Uh...playing pool?

Panel 3:

Wendy:
The Winter Ball is going on upstairs! Right now!

Marie: We know; we were there.

Panel 4: Marie lines up a shot.

Wendy: So go back.

Rahim: Eventually.

Marie: It's just kind of loud and overly social. We needed a break.

Panel 5:

Wendy: A break.

Barbara: Uh-huh.

Panel 6:

Wendy: From dancing, getting utterly wasted, and watching people initiate inappropriate one-night stands by accident while dressed as giant playing cards.

Rahim, Marie, and Barbara: Yep.

Panel 7: Wendy swings around and heads back to the party as Marie lines up another shot.

Wendy: You really don't understand the meaning of the word "fun," do you?

Marie: Odd...that's what I was about to say.

Alt-Text: I have had such conversations with entirely well-meaning people who simply can't understand how anyone could not want to spend six hours bouncing around to music so loud that it precludes conversation. However, I admit that I'm a freak of nature. Most people DO find this sort of thing fun.
