|Panel 1: Casey and Marie are sitting on the couch in Marie's favourite basement nook at Davies College.|
Marie: I could...hear the fire. It must have been everywhere by then. I don't know how it started, no matter what anyone said afterwards about faulty wiring. There was very little air.
Marie: And what I remember happening next is me opening a door in the back of the closet and crawling through a tunnel to the outside.
Marie: It isn't possible. I know. But I couldn't have got out through the front door; the front-hall ceiling collapsed early on. All I know is what my brain tells me happened. The reality...could be anything.
Marie: You may be able to see why your attempts to make me believe I was hallucinating struck a nerve.
Casey: It's entirely possible I may.
