Panel 1: In the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Marie is talking to a tiny version of the Eleventh Doctor from Doctor Who, who is sitting at a little booth--like Lucy's from Peanuts--labelled "Psychiatric Help 5 cents / The Doctor is in." Marie is saying, "West of Bathurst, by Kari Maaren."
Panel 2: Marie
is lying on her stomach on her bed, staring at the action figure of the
Eleventh Doctor given to her by Weird Beard. She sighs.
Panel 3:
Marie: Tell me, tiny model of the Eleventh Doctor: what am I doing with my life?
Panel 4:
Marie:
In a couple of months, I'll be twenty-seven. I'm working on a Ph.D.
because I can think of nothing better to do. I have no actual talents
or skills.
Panel 5:
Marie:
Do you know what it's like to worry about not being truly good at
anything, tiny Eleventh Doctor? Have you ever felt doomed to eternal
mediocrity and a life that never goes anywhere important?
Panel 6: Marie watches the action figure, which does not respond.
Panel 7: Marie and Barbara are walking done the street. Barbara is wearing a Jayne hate (from Firefly) and carrying an action figure of her own.
Marie:
The problem is that whether you look at him as a semi-immortal alien
with a time-travelling spaceship or a small piece of moulded plastic,
the answer is probably still "no."
Barbara: Would you like to borrow my Ringwraith?
Alt-Text: There have been some geeky WoB comics, but I'm not sure that any one strip has approached the geekiness level of this one.
