Re. the write-a-thon: I'm very grateful to the twenty-six people who have contributed thus far. If you haven't yet donated, please consider tossing a buck or two into the pot. Every little bit helps. Clarion's goal is to raise $15,000 by August 6th; it's at $8,000 now, but only $1,000came in last week (you guys supplied more than a tenth of that, so hurrah!). If the rate of donation continues to decline, the final tally will fall far short of what Clarion needs to remain afloat.

It's also worth noting that West of Bathurst's fifth birthday is on Sunday, July 24th. I've talked to the comic about this, and apparently, all it wants is for me to have to draw twenty-one extra strips of it. This is its birthday wish, people. You wouldn't want to disappointsuch a friendly, angst-ridden webcomic, would you?

I have revised both copies of my synopsis (the short one and the long one) and must now start my final hard-copy revision (final for now, that is).

Panel 1: Marie, Evil Marie, and an imaginary Casey are in a nonexistent forest, looking at a younger version of Marie, who is sitting on a rock.

Marie: No. We're going somewhere else.

Evil Marie: In the forest with the giant ravening monster in it?

Panel 2: Marie gestures at Younger Marie, who has buried her face in her hands.

Marie: That's me on the absolute worst day of my life! I zone out on July eighteenth to escape that me!

Casey: Until now.

Panel 3:

Casey:
You're good at deflecting, aren't you? I'm a deflection too. For you, it's all about that day, and if you don't face it, you may as well walk into the woods and serve yourself to the monster.

Panel 4:

Marie: My brain has certainly set this up well.

Evil Marie: Hurrah: it's good for something after all.

Alt-Text: Evil Marie has been to Deadpan Snarker School. She graduated head of her class.
