Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Casey stands at the
edge of a cliff, gazing out over the abyss. Marie stands some distance
behind him and watches him. The words "West of Bathurst" are spelled
out in the clouds; "by Kari Maaren" appears below in cursive. Panel 2: In Marie's apartment, Casey has fallen asleep on the futon while reading a book. Marie stands and looks down at him. Panel 3: As Marie draws a blanket over Casey, Evil Marie appears. Evil Marie: What are you gonna do? He can't stay here forever. Marie: I know. It's just... Panel 4: They move away from the futon. Marie: He's got nothing. No I.D., no money, no job. Baldwin's got rid of most of his old stuff. Evil Marie: Call his mom? Panel 5: They sit down at the dining-room table. Marie: You know what? I don't think she exists. I think he was making up all those conversations about tentacles just to mess with us. Panel 6: Marie: He's completely alone. Evil Marie: So are you. Panel 7: Marie: I'm completely alone in a much less mysterious and frightening way. Evil Marie: Eh...details. Alt-Text: Then again, maybe he's just a sponger. Go to commentary |
