I've done a "Dana Kavalis" page to collect
all the comics related to Donna Vakalis's Great Olympics Adventure
(plus there are some links on the page as well). And by the
way, she did have
a camera on her head.
I'm up to 52,135
words written for the Write-a-Thon, meaning that I've exceeded
my goal (30,000). If you click on my word count, it will take
you to a page that will ask you for money. It will also tell you my
word count again. Yes, I am continuing to write (why
not?).***
The Clarion Write-a-Thon ends on August 4th, which is tomorrow. (Actually, it's 3:00 a.m. EST on the 5th; the Clarion people have finally noticed that they're on GMT time and have changed the countdown on the site.) We're now over the $900 mark (and yes, we've now hit $666.66 twice, meaning that there will be two random Casey panels popping up eventually); let's see if we can go kind of crazy and hit $1,000, thus earning ourselves seven more comics and a comic-book-style story about Marie's past. Considering that this is WoB's last year, it will be fun to see how many strips we can cram in there. As well, Clarion is still falling short of its goal of $18,000. The final coaster draw will take place on Sunday evening, at which time there will also be a draw (involving everyone who has contributed and asked to enter the coaster draws) for a framed print of a black-and-white WoB comic of the winner's choice. There will be two smaller prizes as well; each runner up will get a giant magnet displaying a comic of his or her choice. Remember that you need to e-mail me at kmaaren(at)gmail(dot)com if you want to participate in any of the draws; you name will not be entered unless I hear from you before Sunday at 6:00 p.m. EDT. If you stick your name in the hat now, you still have a chance to win the prize of priority registration! I mean a blu ray player! I mean a comic in a frame! (If you do not get these references, immediately watch the Community episode "Modern Warfare." No, really: do it now.) |

Panel 1: Barbara,
Rahim, Marie, Casey, Baldwin, and Sara are crowded onto the couch in
the Davies College Puffy Couch Room, watching the Olympics. Rahim: Here come the Canadians. Marie: Can anyone see Dana? Panel 2: Marie: No, I--wait! Wait! THERE SHE IS! Baldwin [runs the words together]: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! Panel 3: Marie and Baldwin both stand up. Baldwin waves frantically. Marie: SHE'S GOT A CAMERA ON HER HEAD! Baldwin: HI, DANA! HI FROM TORONTO! Panel 4: Rahim glares at Marie as everyone else watches Baldwin. Marie: What? It's exciting. Baldwin: Huh...I think I just peed a little. Alt-Text: Enthusiastic squeeing is an acceptable response to seeing an acquaintance on TV as an Olympian, especially if she's got a camera on her head. Go to commentary |
