Well, here's the Saturday comic on Sunday. Will the Monday comic be posted on Monday? Only time will tell. |

Panel 1: In
the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, we see the title
page of a student paper. It reads, "The Joy of Apostrophe's," complete
with errant apostrophe. Someone has circled the apostrophe several
times and written "West of Bathurst" and "by Kari Maaren" next to it.
Barbara is trying to attack the paper as Marie holds her back. Panel 2: Barbara is grading papers as Marie watches. Barbara: *Sigh*...misplaced apostrophe. Panel 3: Barbara: And again. Aaand...again. Panel 4: Barbara: Look...it's a plural, not a possessive. That means no apostrophe. Panel 5: Barbara: "Her two different family's"? Really? Really? Stop doing this. Panel 6: Barbara stabs the offending paper repeatedly with her red pen. Barbara: Is there something about "plurals don't take apostrophes" that you're somehow failing to understand? What is wrong with you? Panel 7: Marie: You know she can't hear you, right? Barbara [to the absent student]: I shall staple a grammar guide to your forehead! Alt-Text: This is actually something I do all the time. The more often a particular error appears in an essay, the more annoyed I get, almost as if I expect the student to be able to correct the text after I catch the first mistake. I do the same thing if multiple students make an error; I get mad at the later ones because they haven't paid attention to the corrections I've just made on other students' papers. Go to commentary |
