Contest #1 is now over.  However, I'm going to hold off a bit on the scoring because Barbara will have more to say on Wednesday.  We shall see what we shall see.  Thanks to everyone who participated.

Contest #2 begins today.  The rules are as follows:

Today is Canada Day.  Hurrah for Canada.  Name what you consider West of Bathurst's most Canadian attribute.  One point will be awarded to the answer that is the most sensible and likely to be true; another will be awarded to what I consider the most creative answer.

Please post your answer (you get only one try) in the comments section; I have opened a new comments thread this week for this purpose.  The contest ends at midnight EDT on Sunday, July 7th.  This week's twist:  you may not repeat what someone else has said before you.  Posting early thus has certain benefits, though posting later does as well.

Panel 1: Marie and Barbara are in a restaurant.

Marie: But if it may not even be real, just tell me.

    Barbara: No.

    Panel 2:

    Marie:
How can anything you have to say be worse than this? Tell me.

    Barbara: No.

Panel 3: Marie picks up her phone.

Marie: What's this? Is it an invitation to all your current students to follow you on Twitter? I do believe it--

Barbara: All right! All right! The mouse came back to life because you were there!

    Panel 4:

Marie: Well, that was easy, and huh?

Barbara: Just never use that hideous threat again.

Alt-Text: Online "privacy":  ha ha ha ha ha.
