|Sorry for the tardiness. I had to choose between getting two hours of sleep last night and getting no sleep at all. I chose sleep. The fact that I have to give a three-hour lecture every Monday at 8:00 a.m. does tend to place certain limits on me.|

|Panel 1: Marie sits between Baldwin and Barbara at Davies choir practice as the director hands out new music.|
Director: This first song is in Swahili, but don't worry about the words for now; we'll just be going "La la la."
Marie [to Barbara]: Swahili?
Barbara: We sing pieces in various languages. You'll catch on fast.
Panel 3: Marie looks at the music.
Marie: But I don't even know what these notes mean.
Barbara: Just cross your fingers and fake it.
Baldwin: It works for me.
Barbara: Actually, it really, really doesn't.
Baldwin: Can I go home now?
Alt-Text: Well, at least the theory is sound, kind of.
