| Panel 1: Marie and Evil Marie are sitting on Marie's futon. Evil Marie: Beth hid in the closet to escape her parents' fighting. Eventually, she fell asleep, but the fighting went on. Panel 2: Evil Marie: It got to the point where they stopped abusing each other and started abusing Beth. I mean, this was going way beyond anything the kid deserved. It...hurt even me. Panel 3: Evil Marie: I was watching. People don't see me unless I want them to. And...I don't know what it was about this one kid. There'd been so many kids, many of them a lot worse off.
