West of Bathurst 1113

This comic is dedicated to the real Jackie, of course.

The Clarion Write-a-Thon is 2/3 done, and we haven't hit $666.66 yet. This is a tragedy, people. Please consider sticking a few bucks in the pot. I shall be drawing an extra Casey panel if we hit $666.66 with the $90 pledge added and another if we hit $666.66 without the $90 pledge added. There also continue to be coasters to give away. Coasters! And a print at the end! Remember to contact me if you want to enter!

We are actually quite close to hitting $666.66 for the first time now; we have only $60 to go.

I'm up to 35,029 words written for the Write-a-Thon, meaning that I've reached my goal. If you click on my word count, it will take you to a page that will ask you for money. It will also tell you my word count again. Yes, I am continuing to write (why not?).

Panel 1: In the title panel of this Sunday-style colour comic, Casey is standing beside a table in Marie's apartment, near her laptop, which is chiming. The words "West of Bathurst by Kari Maaren" are nearby in Skype-style font.

Casey: Your Skype is singing.

Marie [off panel]: Could you answer that for me?

Panel 2: Casey is sitting in front of Marie's laptop.

Casey: Uh...hello?

Voice [loudly]: CASEY!

Panel 3:

Voice: Casey Casey Casey!

Casey: Jackie?

Voice: Hi!

Panel 4:  Jackie is sitting in a room, holding a tablet.

Jackie: Are you at Marie's? Do you live there now? Are you guys together? I thought you'd gone missing!

Casey [via the tablet]: I--

Panel 5: Jackie holds the tablet right up to her face and shakes it back and forth.

Jackie: When did you come back? Did you do it in an exciting way? Have you set anything on fire with your mind lately? Tell me everything!

Panel 6: Casey stares helplessly at the laptop.

Casey: Uuuuhhhh...

Panel 7: Marie stands beside the table and gazes at Casey in bemusement.

Casey: It's Jackie. I think she wants to be here so she can bathe luxuriously in the gossip.

Jackie [via the laptop]: Well, ker-duh!

Alt-Text: Jackie knows that gossip just doesn't work properly from a distance.
